Our employees are highly skilled and experienced civil engineering and security fencing professionals with a can-do attitude and offer a professional and friendly service to all customers.  Our diverse and professional team includes IRATA rope access technicians, PASMA and OCTO certified scaffolders, experienced confined space operatives, tree surgeons, chainsaw operators, an arboriculturist, plant operators, banksmen, and bricklayers.  We have Site Managers who have SMSTS (CITB) accreditations and Supervisors who have SSSTS (CITB) accreditations. Based in Garelochhead, WCC Group are ideally located to supply civil engineering services to local Ministry of Defence Establishments and Prime Contractors with requirements in keeping with our varied areas of expertise.

Chris Johnstone

Chris is WCC Group’s founder and Managing Director. He started the company originally as WCC West Coast Group in 1994 having experience as a self-employed contractor working with the Forestry Commission alongside many of his brothers who were directly employed by the Forestry Commission to undertake tree works throughout the U.K. Through self-employment and his passion for his work, Chris was able to develop many skills that have helped him to shape WCC Group into what it is today.

The Projects Team

Vincent Johnstone

Vinny joined WCC Group in 1997 when forestry maintenance was one of the main areas for the company.

Nowadays Vinny manages the on site liaising and management of various contracts with WCC Group's clients from Babcock International Group, the Oil and Pipelines Agency, Galliford Try, JBD Triitec and Amey Defence Services.

His experience of on site and client management covers a wide range of WCC Group's specialties, including security fencing maintenance where he oversaw the removal of security fence toppings to allow electrical upgrades to perimeter security spanning a 2 year project. He also has extensive experience in cable containment works, training in confined spaces & rescue and often oversees many civils and ground maintenance contracts.

Bryan Dorey

Bryan is a Civil Engineer with more than 25 years experience working within the construction industry.

Many of Bryan's years as an engineer are in the construction sector were he work on projects a freelance basis. As a freelance engineer Bryan had the freedom to explore the many disciplines under the construction umbrella, among which were Tunneling, Bridge building, Marine, Structural Concrete and House Building to name a few however he has experience in many more areas.

Bryan Joined WCC West Coast Group Ltd in May 2018 working within the security sector of construction every since where he is the project manager for many of WCC Group's larger clients and projects.

Allan MacIndoe

Allan’s expertise lies in Arboriculture having started his career in Forestry in 1991 with the Scottish School of Forestry for Forest Operations becoming a self employed forestry contractor which included tree felling works and Highline winch timber extractions. He then went on to study Arboriculture & Urban Woodland Management.

Allan joined WCC Group in 1995 and is the Arboriculturist and estimator within the team, he deals largely with the domestic clientele of WCC Group as well as the commercial side of WCC Group’s Tree services carrying out tree surveys and reports for the Ministry of Defence clients such as Babcock International and QinetiQ Ltd as well as other commercial clients within the leisure industry such as Hilton Park Golf Course in Milngavie, Glasgow and Cameron Lodges and the Carrick Golf Course at Loch Lomond. Allan is the team member who applies for any approvals required for tree works to be undertaken within Tree Preservation Areas that have a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) against them.

Kevin Johnstone

Before joining the WCC Group team in 2007 Kevin worked for the Ministry of Defence as a Civil Servant for over 18 years in his role. During this time he gained much experience in Trade Unions. Since joining WCC Group Kevin has taken on the role of Health and Safety Manager which he has filled for 14 years, having a National General Certificate in NEBOSH Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety he ensures that the preparation of pre work risk assessments and method statements are conducted safety and fulfilled limiting risks as far as reasonably practicable.

Along with the Health and Safety aspect of Kevin’s work he has taken on much of the Human Resources aspect of WCC Group and their employees for the last 12 years. Now he provides support to WCC Group’s HR administrator in their duties.

Patrick Johnstone

Patrick has been with the company since 1997 and holds a degree in Economics. He is the company’s Finance Manager, his financial position includes the role of Company Secretary.

While Patrick’s main role is Financial Manager he also oversees the company’s quality management system which he introduced when he joined WCC Group in 1997 and has since aided in the continuous improvement of the operating system of the company by ensuring that WCC Group meet the ISO standards of which WCC Group currently has the ISO 9001: 2015 accreditation.
