WCC Group carried out drainage works for The Scottish Conservation Organisation known as The Scottish National Heritage Trust at Hill House in Helensburgh who have been responsible for the maintenance and preservation of Hill House since the 1980s. The Hill House, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh is considered the most recognisable of the Scottish architect's residential work being one of two fully residential builds ever undertaken by Mackintosh. Mackintosh is easily one of Scotland's most famous architects known for his art nouveau style designs. Charles Rennie Mackintosh was commissioned by Glasgow publisher Walter Blackie in 1902 to design Helesnburgh’s Hill House and completed the build in 1904. However, more than 100 years later the drainage system within the grounds required some attention. The drainage system in Hill House could not cope with the heavy rainfall that the West of Scotland frequently experiences and as a result the drainage system would often overflow and flood the adjacent properties. WCC Group were tasked with carrying out a drainage investigation using a cost-effective, non-destructive drain camera inspection technique to pinpoint the exact nature and location of drainage problems that The National Trust for Scotland was experiencing with Hill House without digging up the ground unnecessarily.

Carrying out a drain camera inspection found that the drains had collapsed and would need to be replaced. WCC Group was able to install new access chambers and approx. 60LM of 300mm twinwall pipe through the main lawn area of Hill House to bypass the collapsed drainage course. A herringbone system was then installed through the lawn, connecting previously installed drainage systems into the newly installed drainage system. WCC Group was able to improve the drainage throughout the grounds of Hill House and reduce the risk of flooding to the properties adjacent to this national landmark. The installation of the new drainage system lasted 3-4 weeks.
